Ministerial Staff
Associate Pastor Claudia LaVerne Prince Cofield Minister Cofield served as an ordained deacon from 2002 until she answered her call into ministry in 2007. She is a licensed minister through the United Church of Christ and serves as Associate Minister at the Holly Springs UCC, Holly Springs, N.C. Her licensure allows her to serve the sacraments: Communion, Baptisms,; officiate at funerals and Committals; and oversee the UCC ministerial staff until a Pastor is called. She continues to teach Bible Study, Adult Sunday School Class, and serve as Director of Christian Education and Vacation Bible School. Minister Cofield is currently enrolled at Shaw University Divinity School, Raleigh, NC and is expected to graduate with a Masters in Divinity in May 2012. She received a BS degree in Business Administration from Shaw University, Raleigh, NC in May 2001. Her next goal is to seek ordination in the UCC Eastern North Carolina Association of Southern Conference and become the first African-American woman to be ordained for ministry in her local church.
She has been married to her husband, Wiley since 1974 and they have three adult children and six beautiful grandchildren and her favorite scriptures are Genesis 50:20 and Philippians 4:13. Minister Barbara J Sutton Minister Sutton serves as Associate Minister at the Holly Springs United Church of Christ. She preached her initial sermon November 7, 2010. Although, Minister has been called to minister and spread the gospel of Jesus Christ, she continues to pursue her passion in provided educational opportunities and resources to those that desire and need assistance. Her services to the church includes: Sunday School and Bible Study teacher, scholarship, pastor's aide, and christian education committee member Minister Sutton is currently employed with NC Department of Health & Human Services and volunteers with InterAct of Wake County. She is a graduate of NC Central University with a B.S in Criminal Justice and a graduate of Pfeiffer University with dual degrees in Master of Health Administration & Master of Business Administration. As of Fall 2011, Minister Sutton will be attending Shaw University Divinity School. Her favorite saying when she learns something new is “Today was a productive day”. Strongly believing everyday should be a productive day because there is always something new we can learn from the Word of God. Minister David Glen Moore Minister David Moore is born again, baptized and filled
with the Holy Spirit. He is the son of James and Geraldine Moore. He’s
been married to Rev. Valissa Moore for 25 years and is the proud father of
three daughters. Minister Moore is an accomplished teacher, preacher, evangelist, conference speaker and one of the Associate Ministers at United Church of Christ. He is currently enrolled at Andersonville Seminary in pursuit of his Bachelors Degree in Theology. In 2000 Minister Moore was ordained as a deacon and became the Deacon
Chair in 2003. He served as a deacon for nine years before preaching his
initial sermon in January 2009. In 1998, at the leading of the Holy Spirit, Minister Moore and his wife, founded Moore and Moore Ministries International, a ministry dedicated to evangelizing the lost and edifying the saved through the Word of God and song. His favorite saying is, “You can alter God’s plans but you can’t change His outcome.” Sooner or later your time will come, Ecclesiastes 3. Minister Myron Whitaker Minister Myron Whitaker answered his call into ministry March 3, 2002. His dedication to the church shows in his teaching of Sunday School and Wednesday night Bible Study. Being a voracious reader and researcher has assisted with the progress of his ministry. Minister Whitaker currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent for Sunday School and started a new members program.
